Apart from gaining knowledge during the conference program and the adjacent workshops, talks and panels; networking plays a crucial part during WTM London.
KARISMA INCOMING at World Travel Market with Málaga
This year’s WTM London and the London Travel week took part from 1-8 November at the ExCel at London Docklands. From November 4-8, KARISMA INCOMING was represented at WTM London by Juan Miguel and Josefina at the Málaga booth. It was at the same time an important task and a tremendous pleasure for us, to getting in contact with future customers as well as meeting current partners and service providers.
BREXIT and its effect on the tourism industry
For us at KARISMA INCOMING, it was also very important to get first-hand information from British market experts how they predict the effect of Brexit on the travel industry, since the United Kingdom is a very important market for tourism to Andalusia. Political leaders from Málaga, Andalusia and Spain are cautious when it comes to making an assessment of what may happen with the Brexit, so we were keen on getting to know the valuation from British travel experts.
It was interesting to learn that most British tourism industry professionals are against Brexit. David Goodger, managing director of Tourism Economics said in a session moderated by himself, that “It’s most likely that we’ll see a deal but the timing is uncertain. A no-deal Brexit would lead to a much worse recession.”
But even under the threat of Brexit, there are some positive news, as Tom Jenkins, Chief Executive of ETOA, (European tourism association) emphasized:
“We are at the beginning of a golden period for package holidays. “ This also means, that Brits, while considering more domestic trips, still will book their overseas holidays and that Brexit will not deter them from going on holiday in Spain or other popular holiday destinations.
